License FAQ

Q: What's the difference between the licenses?

A: Each license is valid only for a single project.

  • The personal license is editable on Windows and OSX and can be used to author projects but not create packaged builds.
  • The Indie license supports all platforms and is required for commercial projects.
  • The Pro license is needed to support custom engine code.
  • The Enterprise license is for project budgets over $150k USD, is a per seat subscription and includes a host of other benefits over the Pro license.

Q: How does NeoFur licensing work?

A: NeoFur is licensed on a per-project basis. The license allows you to ship one “project” commercially.


Q: What is a per-project license?

A: Our per-project license means that your license supports a single "project", be it an app, game, cinematic, simulation, etc. So you would need a new license for each project.


Q: What if I don't know what my project is yet?

A: If you don't ship a project then you can transfer your NeoFur license onto a new project. For instance if you start using NeoFur on a project, but you shelve it without it actually shipping, then you could use the same NeoFur license on your next project. As a courtesy we would ask you to let us know the name of the new project so we can keep an eye out for where NeoFur appears in the wild.


Q: Can I share my per-project license?

A: Your per-project license is tied to your Licensee title. It cannot be transferred or shared with another project. Doing so breaches the terms of the agreement. The only exceptions are to provide copies of the plugin under your license to other members working on the licensed project as per the terms of the License agreement.


Q: Can I use my license for another project?

A: The license is tied to a specifically Licensed Licensee project, so it cannot be used to create new projects. Doing so breaches the terms of the License Agreement. If you require to use NeoFur in another project, you will need to purchase a new license for that project.


Q: Can I use my license for all team members on my project?

A: Licenses are project-based, they are not individual or “per-seat” licenses. So for team members on a single project, a single license is all that is needed for that project.


Q: What platforms are included in the license?

  • The Personal license supports
    Editing: Win64, MacOS.
    Building: none
  • The Indie license supports
    Editing: Win64, MacOS
    Building: Win64/Win32, MacOS, iOS, Android, HTML5
  • The Pro license supports Win64/Win32, OSX, iOS, Android, HTML5, and any other platform Unreal Engine supports.

Q: If I buy a Personal or Indie license now, can I upgrade it later if I need to?

A: Yes, just contact us at neofur at neoglyphic dot com and we'll get you squared away.


Q: Does Neoglyphic take royalties for NeoFur?

A: No.


Q: Do you have an educational license/discount?

A: Not yet. We've received a number of requests for educational licenses that can build a package, something reserved for our Indie and Pro licenses. We're currently investigating how to offer a time limited license for students to build packages for school projects but not for distribution.
