Shadow issue, hairs too bright

Swinny 7 years ago updated by Ocean Pearl 4 years ago 7

Hello,

There seems to be an issue where the fur shader, no matter what i do or how many things i turn off - always seem to have some kind of brightness. this results in poor results as the fur sticks out on the character when in shadow. thoughts?

Hi there! Apologies for the delayed reply - but this one is a bit perplexing

Any way we could see a screenshot of this?

Are you using the complex shader?

Have you followed best practices - as described here:

mainly - make sure shadows and normal direction are enabled.

So turning Indirect Lighting Cache Quality off on the fur component fixed the issue. but if i wanted to keep it on as it looks great - where do I affect the base brightness of the material so it doesnt stay so bright even in dark shadow?

Also, I have enabled dithering, but have found that it breaks if you have a density map active. aka the complete ply surface even @ 0 length will show when dithering. Yes is have TX AA Enabled thankyou

just confirming that typo, I meant even the flat poly shows when dithering is enabled. is this a bug?
